Red Bull Ride & Style Today In San Francisco

Martin Kiesewetter Rips In Germany

I just received an update and a few pics from our German rider, Martin Kiesewewtter who has been shredding his new Malice and Killswtich in a few of the bigger German bike parks over the last week and has some pics to share. First is a sketchy drop with a super short take off... Kesi's Killswitch barely fit on the lip he got tossed at least once.

He ended up snagging the cover of next month's
Mountain Bike Rider Magazine for his efforts... Nice work Kesi!!!

We'll post it when it's released...

Nick Brandreth's New Site Is Live....

I have been working with Nick Brandreth for about 6 years now and he's not only a ridiculous photographer and always getting better but Nick's always been a friend. Believe me, Nick has put up with a lot of shit from Adam and me... mostly Adam but it's because we love him and we're only happy he doesn't turn his NJ wrestling skills loose on us.

Here's a taste of Nick's abilites...

Jake Kinney Edit for Index Ink

Our very own Jake Kinney just finished a web video for Index Ink. It's taken some time, but the results came out great. This just shows what a great rider is made of, Jake can ride anything! Huge thanks to James Moore for filming/editing. Be sure to check back soon for another video by James. Enjoy!

Jim & Jake

Some more shots from Jim Tharp's yard, this time with BlkMrkt "Made Man" Jake Kinney.

Get Well Trevor!!!

I ran into one of my favorite street urchins, Trevor Perelson at Sea Otter yesterday and was bummed to find him with a busted hand. Get well soon Trevor...

Sea Otter Speed & Style Finals!!!

This year's new event Speed & Style killed the old Speed Trials format and was far more fun to watch and compete in... nice work goes out to Nativ Eyewear, Kyle Ebbet, Jeff Lenosky and the grunts who put the finishing touches on the course.

Jim Tharp's New Jumps

I recently took a trip to Santa Cruz and was lucky enough to ride with Jimmy up there. We got to play at his house which has a dirt skatepark in the driveway. He told us that he had built some trails a while back, but never managed to give them a first ride. So, we all grabbed a shovel and got them ready to blast. Don't let the photo fool you, the gap is near 20ft out and about 6ft up. Naturally, Jim flows it with effortless ease!

Santa Cruz Mountain Bike Festival Wrap-Up...

Just a few weeks past was the first annual Santa Cruz Bike Festival, and Black Market was on hand at the scene. The festival was established to gain funds to open a permanent Santa Cruz bike park, and it seemed to be a great success! It was more than just a vendor gathering, there were events such as a 46 mile XC race, a 30 minute short track race, a massive pump track race, and of course, a Jump Jam at the famous Aptos dirt jumps. We raffled-off a Soldier complete, which was won by David from Aptos. He won the bike for his son, to get him into MTB's. All-in-all it was a great weekend with a huge turnout and a sure thing to return to next year. We would like to give a big thanks to Epicenter Cycling in Aptos for helping us sponsor the event, and for their support.

Highlights include:

Lisa Myklak winning Pro Women's pump track

Jake Kinney taking 2nd at Pro Men's pump track, 4th at Jump Jam, & 2nd in best transfer

Our new "Roam" gaining wide popularity at the festival

1 man named Scott winning the XC, pump, and short track races. He won the Pro Pump race with no brakes, no chain/sprocket and with Motocross bars on his bike

It was just great to meet so many new people and spend time with good old friends

Just loading up for the long trip ahead

BlkMrkt booth at the festival, always reppin' hard

EVERYONE loves some BlkMrkt gear!

Lisa Myklak with the win on the pump track

Congrats David!

Carter Holland Flowing Taiwan

Here's a quick edit of Carter flowing some trail lines, from his recent trip to Taiwan. Prepare yourself for smooth lines, fast riding, and a shirtless man. Enjoy!

Pavel Vishneviy at Vienna Air King

Pavel just sent over these 3 videos of himself at Air King. I must say, as soon as he stepped up to 26", his game stepped up even more and he was killing it at the dirt jumps! Throwing down huge double whips, flip bars, and just barely missing the flip double whip landed him a top 10 finish in the finals.
the videos are in order of: Practice, Qualifying, and Finals. Enjoy!

Vienna Air King Video

The filming on this is ridiculous!!! Enjoy...

Vienna Air King 2011 - Highlights from Peak on Vimeo.

Monday with Matthias

RedBull Just released a new flatland/street edit with the phenom, Matthias Dandois. This has to be one of the most well directed and filmed edits that i've ever seen on the internet. Regardless of what you ride, this is SURE to entertain. Enjoy!

Vienna Air King Results

The results are in...

Unfortunately, I missed the live webcast of the Vienna Air King but I just saw the results. Our man from Russia... Pavel Alekhin, A.K.A. "Vishnivey" made the Finals and finished 10th overall against  what could arguably be the best mountain bike dirt jumpers in the world... brakeless.
Nice work Vishneviy!!!

This is just a heat... Damn!!!

2011 Fontana City National... A Bumpy Ride.

We're ok here...
Last weekend was the Fontana City National in scenic Fontana, Ca. where the weather and dirt were perfect and I was ready to race... or so I thought. You may or may not have read or heard about last weeks National DH course but Donny and his crew did a great job of the new course.

The DH course had a bit of everything... fast, flowy start with a nice jump that is you picked a bad line you ended up in a bush 7 seconds into the race. After about 60 seconds of fun, it was time for the technical section. The Southridge guys cut a line straight down the face of the rockiest part of the hill. This section challenged everyone to be precise and on point or pay a heavy price.

Luckliy, I never had any real issues here but due to my crash in 4X in the photos below, I never hit it at race speed ( but close ) or under racing pressure... So, I was always fairly relaxed.

 Still good...

Hmmm... something seems to have gone array at this point.

Here's my 4th practice run on the Roam on Saturday before my crash. It was a bit hectic on the steep face with under 6" of travel front and rear but I made the best of it and had a blast. I would have loved to have raced on Sunday instead of spending it recuperating from my first turn pile-up but that's the way racing goes. Next time...

Enjoy!!!
